For this recital, each student was given the option of preparing one or two pieces to play. Some have been selected already. If there is something you'd love to play, or that your family would love to hear, let me know!

All my students are excited for a few new changes and surprises this recital has in store!

ABOUT ME

I have been playing the piano for 30 years and have been teaching for 15 years. Music and teaching are two of my greatest passions, so it's been wonderful to combine them! My philosophy of teaching piano is learning to play simply for the joy of playing, so music can be an enjoyable pastime rather than a strictly regimented routine. My hope is that my students will be excited to sit down at the piano and not dread it with a sense of impending doom akin to a visit to the orthodontist.

Over the past 18 years I have taught swimming lessons, middle- and high-school English, first grade, and of course piano lessons! I began studying music (piano performance) at Brigham Young University, but I went on to earn a BA in English teaching so I could teach school. Right now I am "retired" from teaching school full time to stay home with my three little ones, but I've found I compulsively can't stop teaching, so I am continuing to teach piano lessons on a part-time basis. We left the Washington, DC area after nearly six years and are thrilled to finally be settled in Kansas City!
